The following information, some of which is from over a decade ago, is from our troop's old site (previous url).
A short history
Troop 201 has been chartered by Lincoln Square Recreation Center in Oakland Chinatown since 2002, first as Pack 201 (Cub Scout). By 2005, the first generation of Cub Scouts in Pack 201 advanced onto Boy Scouts and formed Troop 201. However, we discontinued the pack due to a lack of adult leadership. About a year later, Pack 204 was created and chartered by Salvation Army Oakland Chinatown Corp a few blocks away from Lincoln Center and became the feeder pack for Troop 201.
In 2012, Troop 201 had its first Eagle Scout, the first Eagle Scout ever awarded to a boy scout in Oakland Chinatown. The Mayor of the City of Oakland and the Mayor of the City of Piedmont both came to the Eagle Scout Court of Honor. In the following year, three more of our scouts became Eagle Scouts. These are the first generation of scouts of Troop 201.
Throughout its history, Troop 201 has guided many youths in the Chinese community to become functional and responsible young men with its unique, fun, and special activities. Although the members of Troop 201 are primarily Asians, the troop welcomes youth of other cultures and races to join. Together, we can all learn, share, and respect each other and strive to become responsible persons in this globalized world!
