Stoves
A stove should be used instead of a campsite when possible. They are faster, easier, and more efficient.
Make sure all fuel is noticeably marked. Place cartridges and fuel bottles far from other things to lower the impact of gas fumes. Carry home all empty fuel containers. Don't place fuel near heat sources.
Place the stove on a level surface free of burnable material. During winter camouts, a piece of sturdy plywood about 6 inches square will work. Read your stove's instructions carefully and follow them exactly.
Safety rules:
- Use only when allowed and with adult supervision
- Use stoves outside
- Tighten the stove's fuel cap or rightly screw on the fuel canister
- Store extra fuel safely away from the stove
- Kee your head and hands to one side of a stove
- Do not overload a stove with a heavy pot. Instead, use a grill to bear the weight.
- Do not leave a burning stove unattended
- Allow stoves to cool before changing cartridges or filling fuel tanks.
- Refill stoves and store extra fuel away from open flame.
